Amara earned her B.S. in Biosciences from UC Irvine and started pursuing her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at UCLA shortly after. Her research focuses on investigating how novel dense granule proteins affect the host cell during the chronic stage of Toxoplasma infection. When she’s not pipetting, Amara loves exploring outdoors, nature photography, and going to Disneyland.

Currently, Amara is at Stanford University for her post-doc in Dr. Egan's lab studying malaria.
